Whole school approach to racism and racist incidents: guidance
This guidance has been designed to assist school leaders, school staff, and local authorities to implement a consistent and robust whole school approach to responding to racism and racist incidents in schools.
Recording racist incidents
It is vital that schools and local authorities have clear policies and procedures in place to record, monitor and address all incidents of racism. All reports of racist incidents should be recorded. It is not necessary for an allegation to be investigated before it is recorded. Information on recording a racist incident between pupils can be found in Addressing racism and racist incidents guidance.
Incidents experienced by school staff should be recorded in line with school and Local Authority procedure.
