Ukraine - A Warm Scots Future: policy position

This publication has been written in partnership with COSLA and the Scottish Refugee Council. This paper outlines the transition from an emergency response to Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, to a long-term and holistic approach that supports the integration of displaced people from Ukraine.

3. As of 12 July 2022, 5,457 people had arrived in the UK with a visa sponsored by the Scottish Government. In addition, 2,777 people had arrived in the UK with a visa sponsored by an individual in Scotland. A total of 20,605 visas had been issued with the Scottish Government as a sponsor, and a total of 3,959 issued sponsored by an individual.

7. Data as of 25 July 2023. The map shows numbers of arrivals in the UK on the Individual Sponsor Scheme by sponsor location, as such may not be representative of all displaced people from Ukraine in Scotland or where they are currently residing. Additionally, it is important to note that the number of arrivals into the UK is not necessarily reflective of the persons having arrived at the sponsors’ location. An individual, arriving on a visa sponsored by a Scottish Sponsor, may arrive elsewhere in the UK and decide to remain there. 8. As at 24 July 2023, 53,300 people had arrived in the UK via Ukraine Family Scheme. In addition, as at 25 July 2023, 7,900 applications were granted to extend permission to stay in the UK under the Ukraine Family Scheme and 18,900 applications were granted under the Ukraine Extension Scheme.
