In 2015, Scottish registered vessels landed a total of 440 thousand tonnes of sea fish and shellfish, with a value of £437 million. This represents a 15 per cent decrease in value in real terms compared to 2014 and an eight per cent decrease in the quantity landed compared to 2014.
There were 2,015 active Scottish registered vessels in 2015, a decrease of 15 vessels (0.7 per cent) from the previous year. These vessels employed a total of 4,823 fishermen, an increase of 0.6 per cent from 2014.
Quantity and value of landings of all species by Scottish vessels
This Scottish Sea Fisheries Statistics publication provides a detailed overview of the quantity and value of landings of sea fish and shellfish by Scottish vessels and landings into Scotland. Landings data are provided according to:
- Vessel nationality
- Country and district of landing
- Area of capture
- Fishing gear used
- Vessel size
Data on landings by other UK vessels and landings into the UK is also provided. The quantities of all landings are reported in terms of live weight.
