Scottish Household Survey 2024: Satisfaction with Local Health Services and Sport and Leisure Facilities
Results from the 2024 Scottish Household Survey on satisfaction with local health services including dignified and respectful treatment, and local authority sport and leisure facilities

across Scotland, the percentage of adults who said they were satisfied with the quality of local health services has fallen by 6 percentage points from 67% in 2023 to 61% in 2024.
- 69% of respondents living in Remote Rural areas said they were satisfied with the quality of local health services compared with 63% living in Large Urban Areas and 57% in Other Urban Areas.
- across Scotland, 46% of people said that they were very or fairly satisfied with local authority sport and leisure facilities, 16% of people were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied and 9% were very or fairly dissatisfied. 29% of respondents reported having no opinion on the question.
- 90% of adults agreed that they were treated with dignity and respect by local health services. This is an increase of 3 percentage points from 2023 when 87% of people agreed with the statement.
- 88% of those who lived in the most deprived Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) quintile agreed that they were treated with dignity and respect by local health services, compared to 92% of those living in the least deprived quintile.
- people who have used local authority sport and leisure facilities within the last 12 months are far more likely to be satisfied with them (84%) than all adults (46%).
- of those who have used local authority sport and leisure facilities within the last 12 months, 79% of people with disabilities were very or fairly satisfied with them, compared to 85% of those without disabilities.
