Proportion of Households Without Internet Access

This bar chart shows the proportion of households in different age groups without internet access. The age groups are everyone in the household aged 65 or over and everyone in the household aged 80 or over.

Older households were less likely to have internet access.

33% of households where everyone was aged 65 or over did not have home internet access, compared with 59% of households where everyone was aged 80 or over.

40% of adults in households where everyone was aged 65 or over did not use the internet, and 66% of adults in households where everyone was aged 80 or over did not use it.

22% of low income households did not have home internet access

A low income household is defined as a household whose net income is in the bottom ten per cent

9% of households where someone had a long-term health condition and someone was below 65 did not have home internet access

Individuals with long-term health conditions are more likely to be in high clinical risk or vulnerable categories
