Scottish Government Response to the Independent Review of Adult Disability Payment Final Report Easy Read Version

Easy read summary of the Scottish Government Response to the Independent Review of Adult Disability Payment Final Report.

A Learning System

This part of the review has recommendations about how we can keep making Adult Disability Payment better.

Within 3 months:

Social Security Scotland will keep working to get better at meeting people’s communication needs.

Social Security Scotland will keep learning about the things that might stop people from applying for Adult Disability Payment.

Not working on:

Translating every bit of guidance into Braille, British Sign Language, Easy Read and other accessible formats.

This is because:

  • we already have the information we think people need to know in Braille, British Sign Language and Easy Read.
  • Groups that support disabled people tell us they want to translate information themselves when they need it.

Giving people who apply for Adult Disability Payment the name of one person in Social Security Scotland they can call.

This is because:

  • Adult Disability Payment is complicated and has lots of different people working on it
  • If someone has a redetermination, someone new needs to work on their application.
