Engagement was undertaken as part of the public consultation with two online sessions taking place during August 2025. Details of the events were advertised via local newspapers, stakeholder group notifications and direct mailing.

The objectives of these events were to:

  • Raise awareness of the Strategic Compensation Policy and ensure that interested parties’ views and knowledge are taken into account;
  • Explain how Scottish Government have assessed the potential business, regulatory and environmental impacts of the Strategic Compensation Policy;
  • Raise awareness of the statutory consultation process, encourage participation and outline how to provide response(s);
  • Answer queries regarding the Strategic Compensation Policy and supporting documents; and
  • Outline next steps.

The online events presented an overview of the Strategic Compensation Policy and the key findings of the SEA and BRIA. The list of events is shown in Table A 3. The events were attended by a range of individuals representing different sectors, organisations as well as members of the public.
