The National Good Food Nation Plan - Accompanying Statement

This statement sets out how regard has been had to the Scottish Parliament's scrutiny of the proposed national Good Food Nation Plan and how this has informed the approach taken.


Legislative requirement

  • Section 1 of the Good Food Nation (Scotland) Act 2022 (“the Act”) requires the Scottish Ministers to publish and lay before the Scottish Parliament a national Good Food Nation Plan (“the national Plan”).
  • Before complying with the requirement under section 1 of the Act, the Scottish Ministers must lay the proposed national Good Food Nation Plan (“the proposed Plan”)[1] before the Scottish Parliament for a period of 60 days (of which no more than 30 days could be in recess). This is provided for in section 3 of the Act.
  • Section 3(3) of the Act sets out that the Scottish Ministers, when laying the national Plan before the Parliament must also lay a statement setting out (a) the details of any representations, resolutions or reports relating to the proposed Plan made during the period of parliamentary scrutiny and (b) the changes (if any) that have been made to the proposed Plan in response to these representations, resolutions or reports and the reasons for those changes.
