Output per hour worked
In 2024, provisional estimates for annual labour productivity, as measured by output per hour worked, fell by 1.5% compared to 2023. This follows a decrease of 1.1% in 2023 and an increase of 3.8% in 2022.
The growth rate for labour productivity can be broken down into its component parts, and equals the growth in output minus the growth in labour input.
In 2024, the annual fall of 1.5% in output per hour worked was composed of growth in GVA of 1.2% offset by a 2.8% increase in total hours worked.
