This toolkit provides practical support to make communication between people and services more inclusive.
Module 4: How organisations can achieve inclusive communication good practice
This module is for leaders and managers in public sector organisations.
It describes how organisations can implement inclusive good practice standards 1 to 5. These standards detail the support that all staff need to implement good practice at an individual level.
They are:
1. leadership and ownership of inclusive communication
2. involvement of people who communicate in different ways
3. policy and quality standards
4. knowledge, skills and confidence
5. practical resources available to everyone, all the time
Module content
This module includes:
- a 45 minute presentation, including quotes from people who experience communication exclusion, experts, and public body representatives
- transcript of the presentation

All materials use inclusive writing and are screen-readable. The presentation includes BSL interpretation, a voiceover and subtitles.
How to use this module
You can watch the presentation and read the step-by-step guide at your own pace, alone or with colleagues. You should then discuss the material with your fellow leaders and managers, planning how to work through the steps together.
Actions

- Implement the steps set out in the guide.
- Report and record progress for your own records.
- Collaborate with colleagues inside your organisation, and other bodies, to share developments.
