With independence Scotland would have some new organisations and systems
Independence would mean creating a new nationality in law.
Scottish citizens would be entitled to have a Scottish passport in an independent Scotland.
Scotland would have its own armed forces.
Scotland would have its own embassies. They would help Scots when they travel overseas and support Scottish businesses.
The Scottish Government believes that we could have a better social security system with independence.
Scotland would have control of all parts of the social security system.
The Scottish Government would make changes to Universal Credit. It would be fairer for everyone, including families with children.
Independence would allow the Scottish Government to make the pensions system better. This would help older people in retirement.
With independence, this Scottish Government would offer visas to help people to live, work, study or invest in Scotland.
Refugees would be allowed to stay in safety. Refugees who want to make Scotland their home will have the option to do so.
