A Fresh Start with Independence: easy read version
Easy read version of the Scottish Government's proposals in A Fresh Start with Independence. Further details are available in the main paper.
Scotland could have a fresh start with independence
Some key things could help make Scotland a better country. We need independence to make these things happen.
Being part of the European Union
European Union membership would mean people could work, live and travel freely in the EU again.
Staying part of the Common Travel Area
This would mean people in Scotland could continue to be able to move freely in:
- the UK
- Ireland
- the Channel Islands
- the Isle of Man
as well as Europe.
Changing the way we run the economy
Make government, business and unions work better together.
Encouraging more Scottish owned businesses, with more companies who do business all over the world to have their headquarters in Scotland
Having low cost, clean energy for people and businesses.
Having a new immigration system for Scotland’s needs
This would help businesses find the right people for jobs.
Having our own constitution. A constitution is a set of rules that guide how a country works.
A constitution could help to protect free NHS services in Scotland.
