GDP First Quarterly Estimate 2026 Q1 (January to March)

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) statistics measure the output of the economy in Scotland.


  • Scotland’s GDP grew by 0.1% in real terms during Quarter 1 2026 (January to March), after growing 0.2% in the previous quarter (October to December). In Quarter 1, GDP in the UK as a whole grew by 0.6% after growing by 0.2% in the previous quarter.
  • In Quarter 1 2026 services output grew by 0.2%, production contracted by 0.5%, construction grew by 0.4% and agriculture, forestry & fishing contracted by 0.7%. The Manufacturing sector made the largest negative contribution towards quarterly GDP.
  • Compared to the same quarter last year, Scotland’s GDP grew by 0.8%. Over the same period, GDP in the UK as a whole grew by 1.1%.
