Schools - risk assessment guidance: equality impact assessment

Equality impact assessment for risk assessment guidance on fostering a positive, inclusive and safe environment and violent, aggressive and dangerous behaviour.

Title of policy:

Fostering a Positive, Inclusive and Safe Environment Guidance and Schools - violent, aggressive and dangerous behaviour: risk assessment guidance

Summary of aims and desired outcomes of Policy:

The Fostering a Positive, Inclusive and Safe Environment Guidance aims to support schools to foster a positive, inclusive and safe school environment through their approaches to positive relationships and behaviour. In particular, it provides clarity to all members of a school community – staff, parents and children and young people – on the use of consequences as part of relationships and behaviour policies. It brings together existing advice and reflects the latest evidence on effective approaches to relationships and behaviour, including prevention, early intervention and responding appropriately to behaviour.

The Schools - violent, aggressive and dangerous behaviour: risk assessment guidance provides clarity to local authorities and educational settings on appropriately using risk assessment processes to mitigate or minimise violent, aggressive, and dangerous behaviours exhibited by children and young people at school.. The risk assessment guidance aligns to guidance on Fostering a Positive, Inclusive and Safe Environment Guidance and is set within the national strategic policy on relationships and behaviour in Schools.
