Equality and human rights mainstreaming strategy: easy read
Easy read version of the Equality and Human Rights Mainstreaming Strategy. This strategy sets out the Scottish Government’s approach to embedding equality and human rights into everything it does across government and encouraging the same approach across the wider public sector.
3. What Will Change
The Strategy will make equality and human rights part of everyday work.
Equality and human rights will be built into:
- decision-making
- policy design
- services
- budgeting
The Strategy looks at 6 areas where things need to change:
1. Strong Leadership Leaders will promote equality and human rights, decide what needs to be done, and make sure the changes happen.
2. Being more open about what we do Report on the progress made and let people know what the Government is doing.
3. Make better rules Laws and policies will match mainstreaming goals.
4. Get more facts and involve people with experience Decisions will be based on information and lived experience.
5. Get better at what we do Staff will have the skills and confidence to make equality and human rights part of all the work they do.
6. Make sure we can do the work needed Organisations will have the time, people, and resources to make mainstreaming work.
