Easy Read: Scottish Approach to Service Design

The vision for the Scottish Approach to Service Design is that the people of Scotland are supported and empowered to actively participate in the definition, design and delivery of their public services (from policy making to live service improvement).

How to use the Scottish Approach to Service Design

People should use the Scottish Approach to Service Design to think about how they can best design services.

They will get the most value from talking to other people in their team or organisation about it.

They should also speak to people in other organisations when designing services.

People can use the Scottish Approach to Service Design to create the right conditions for doing design work.

This means thinking about and making sure:

  • the right people are involved
  • they understand what their role is
  • they know how they should work
  • they are supported to take part

The Scottish Approach to Service Design also includes a tool to help people think about their own design work.

People who design services can use this to help them think about how they can do more.
