What the law says at the moment

At the moment someone who has separated from their partner can ask the courts to make their ex partner share money.

This process is also called applying.

It is normally done by the person’s solicitor.

Solicitors are people who know about the law and can give advice or help with law problems.

At the moment, people are allowed to apply any time up to 1 year after the day when they stopped living together.

But there are problems with this law.

Some of the words used in the law are not clear.

This makes it tricky for solicitors to give advice to the people who are separating.
