Avian influenza (bird flu): previous outbreaks

A record of confirmed cases of bird flu in Scotland. The season is recorded from October to September each year.

Incidents of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 were confirmed at premises in the following areas:

Near Finstown, Orkney Islands on 22 November 2023, with restrictions lifted on 27 December 2023.

Near Strichen, Aberdeenshire on 23 October 2023, with restrictions lifted on 27 November 2023.
