What we do

We support ministers and communicate the aims and objectives of the government in line with the principles of openness and accountability.

We are responsible for:

providing guidance and support to cabinet secretaries and ministers
working with media organisations to ensure we supply information both proactively and reactively
the gov.scot website
providing advice and guidance on the use of official government channels, the use of social media and standards for online content
delivering public information and social advertising campaigns
researching target audiences and deciding how best to reach them
managing internal and external communications
