Supply and use satellite accounts for extra-regio activities: 1998-2024

An official statistics in development publication for Scotland.

Estimates of gross value added (GVA) and the supply and use of goods and services for a geographical share of extra-regio economic activities in the years 1998-2024.

Key points

  • Balanced annual estimates of Scotland’s offshore gross value added (GVA) and the supply and use of goods and services for a geographical share of extra-regio economic activities have been updated for all years between 1998 and 2024.

  • These estimates are consistent with GDP Quarterly National Accounts for Scotland (QNAS) 2025 Quarter 3 and based on data from the latest oil and gas production, income and expenditure statistics.

  • Estimates of GDP using each of the production, income and expenditure approaches are available, including an illustrative geographical share of UK extra-regio activity.

  • This includes offshore oil and gas extraction activity in Scottish adjacent waters, and, for completeness, a population share of overseas public administration and defence activity.
