Social Security Programme 2017-2026: Delivery Report
This delivery report outlines work carried out by the Scottish Government’s 2017-2026 Social Security Programme to build Scotland’s new devolved benefits system
Conclusion
Across the length and breadth of Scotland – from the Highlands and Islands to our most densely populated cities – two million people are now in receipt of devolved social security benefits from the Scottish Government.
This essential support includes help for disabled people with the additional costs of everyday tasks such as getting dressed or getting washed, help for older people to heat their homes, help for families that targets the tackling of child poverty and help as well for unpaid carers.
The award-winning Social Security Programme closes therefore having successfully achieved its key aim of building a benefits system focused on client needs – a system whose impact will be felt by the people of Scotland for decades to come through an innovative, durable and value for money public service.
