Restitution Fund: how to apply

The Restitution Fund supports organisations providing services to police officers, staff, and others assisting them, who have been assaulted in the course of their duties.

Overview

The Restitution Fund gives money to organisations that support police officers and staff who have been victims of assault.

It also covers others who were helping them at the time, such as custody officers, NHS and ambulance staff, and members of the public. Retired police officers and staff are also eligible.

The fund aims to ensure victims of assault can access recovery support.

It is funded through Restitution Orders - fines imposed by the courts on those convicted of assaulting police officers, police staff, or people assisting them, collected by the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service.

A total of £15,000 is available. The fund will reopen when it contains sufficient funds.

Applications close at 5pm on 11 September 2026.
