Proposed North Sea and West Coast of Scotland Haddock Fisheries Management Plan

The North Sea and West Coast of Scotland haddock FMP is one of 43 UK FMPs set out in the Joint Fisheries Statement (JFS). It sets out the policies and actions to continue to maintain the relevant stock at sustainable levels providing positive socio-economic benefits to the UK.

Why an FMP for Northern Shelf haddock?

Northern Shelf haddock is a whitefish species caught as part of a mixed whitefish fishery within UK waters and also outwith UK waters. Northern Shelf haddock is a commercially important species within UK waters, with the landed value by the UK fleet reaching just over £30 million in 2022. Northern Shelf haddock in UK waters is caught primarily by the Scottish demersal whitefish fleet, with 99% of the catch landed into the UK.
