Personal footcare guidance: equality impact assessment
Equality impact assessment supporting the refreshed personal footcare guidance, ensuring it promotes inclusive, accessible foot health advice for all. It considers impacts across protected characteristics.
Policy Aim
The aim of the Personal Footcare Guidance refresh is to bring the published 2013 Personal Footcare Guidance up to date, particularly around the enhanced use of digital technology in the delivery of services. This update sets out to better support individuals, carers, care providers and families in the provision of personal foot care and to share information on resources.
This refreshed Personal Footcare Guidance has been developed in alignment with the evolving priorities of Care and Wellbeing, NHS Recovery and the provision of sustainable healthcare services. It is designed so that individuals in Scotland receive the right care, at the right time, and in the right place. This guidance reinforces the importance of integrated care, prevention, anticipation and supported self-management.
The core principle of this guidance is the empowerment of individuals to take the lead role in their own foot health. This includes providing the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in their own homes or in a comfortable environment. Additionally, this policy seeks to enhance public awareness of when to seek professional advice and care.
