Mitigations
Specific provisions which have been incorporated to mitigate any unintended consequences on Island communities which include:
- Statement of intent consultation was delivered through an online questionnaire and with a number of engagement sessions held online, therefore it was open to everyone with an interest in improving transitions across Scotland.
- All of the National Transitions to Adulthood Strategic Working Group meetings to date have been held online.
- Using Dialogue - an online resource – for practitioner feedback during solution focussed engagement helped to ensure as many stakeholders as possible were able to help shape the Strategy.
- Solution focused engagement sessions have also been held online and therefore open to everyone with an interest in improving transitions across Scotland.
- Scotland wide organisations supporting young disabled people were asked to share events with their networks to make sure reach was extended as far across Scotland as possible.
- The Strategy targets all young disabled people aged 14–25, focusing on early planning, coordinated support, and empowerment to improve outcomes. It benefits all, including island communities, by promoting decision-making and aspirations beyond local limits. Advancing a standardised transition approach ensures equitable, high-quality support into adulthood and helps young disabled people make informed choices about their futures.
The Strategy will not impact on service provision or transport in local areas, however through it’s implementation there will be opportunities to raise concerns to colleagues in these areas via our cross policy working group and External Strategic Working Group.
