National Mission on Drugs: annual report 2025 to 2026
Sets out the progress made between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026 by national government, local government and third sector partners towards reducing drug deaths and improving the lives of those impacted by drugs in Scotland.
7. Outcome 6: Children, families and communities affected by substance use are supported
7.1 Overview
Families require dedicated support to empower them and allow them to support the recovery of their loved one. They also need access to services to enable their own recovery.
7.2 Progress in 2025-26
7.2.1 Whole Family Approach Framework
Since the 2021 publication of Families Affected by Drug and Alcohol Use in Scotland, we have worked with local areas to improve their family support and implement family inclusive practice across alcohol and drug services. This has been supported by an expert national working group and £6.5 million per year in funding over the course of the National Mission:
- £3.5 million in ADP funding per year to implement the framework
- £3 million per year of grant funding through the Children and Families Fund administered as part of the National Drugs Mission Funds by Corra
In 2025/26, 34 projects were supported through the Children and Families Fund, full details of these and all of the projects supported by The Corra Foundation can be found in their Annual Report online.
Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs has also continued to work with local areas to develop, test and deliver a national Family Inclusive Development Programme. This programme has focussed on supporting practice implementation of Family Inclusive Practice through continued work with existing areas and expansion into other localities.
