National Mission on Drugs: Annual Monitoring
These annual monitoring reports provide an analysis of the progress made on the Scottish Government’s National Mission to reduce drug deaths and improve lives.
Introduction
The level of harms from alcohol and drugs in Scotland are high in comparison to the rest of the UK and Europe and cause avoidable damage to people’s lives, families and communities. Tackling the high level of drug and alcohol related deaths in Scotland is a priority for the Scottish Government and in January 2021, the former First Minister announced a National Mission to reduce drug deaths and harms supported by an additional £250 million funding between 2021 to 2026. The key objectives are set out in the National Mission on Drug Deaths: Plan 2022-2026 which was developed in collaboration with stakeholders.
