National Electrofishing Programme for Scotland

Electrofishing surveys are undertaken to capture and count juvenile fish, primarily in rivers.


Project milestones

  • June 2019: GRTS sample locations provided to data providers to assess suitability for electrofishing.
  • July – September 2019. Electrofishing according to MSS protocols, collect water, genetic and scale samples. Enter data into Marine Scotland Science’s FishObs (database) Data Processing Utility (DPU) as time allows.
  • End of October 2019. All data entry must be complete and samples returned to MSS.
  • November 2019 – March 2020. MSS to collate data from FishObs database. Carry out data analysis and provide report on findings.
