National Care Service: Ethical procurement co-design report
This report sets out findings we have gathered through research and co-design that relate to ethical procurement.
Co-design sessions
We ran 5 co-design sessions on ethical procurement. These were with:
- Glasgow Disability Alliance
- SACRO
- MECOPP (Minority Ethnic Carers of Older People Project)
- Homeless Network Scotland
- Action for Children
Most sessions were in-person focus groups, with one hybrid event organised by Glasgow Disability Alliance.
We worked with each charity to make sure what we planned to share was right for the people attending the workshop. This is why we sent information to each group before the session. For example, with Action for Children we changed the way the information was explained to make the process of procurement understandable for children and young people.
Each workshop was run by a member of the organisation who had pre-existing relationships with participants. We feel this supported safe and meaningful conversations in the workshops.
Through the co-design workshops we tested:
- the ethical procurement and commissioning principles
- what good procurement looks like
- how people can and want to be involved in procurement processes to buy support services
