GDP Monthly Estimate: September 2025

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) statistics measure changes in the output of the economy. This is an Official Statistics in Development publication for Scotland.


In September the sector with the largest positive contribution to three-month GDP growth was Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, which contributed around 0.2 percentage points towards overall growth. The largest negative contributor was Manufacturing, which contributed around -0.1 percentage points towards three-month GDP growth.

 

In the three months to September 2025, compared to the three months to June 2025, output in the Production sector is estimated to have contracted by 1.3%, while the services sector is estimated to have grown by 0.5%. Construction sector output grew by 0.1% in the three months to September.
