GDP Monthly Estimate: April 2026
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) statistics measure changes in the output of the economy. This is an Official Statistics in Development publication for Scotland.

In the three months to April 2026, compared to the three months to January 2026:
- Scotland’s real onshore Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is estimated to have grown by 0.1%. This follows growth of 0.1% in the three months to March 2026 and contraction of 0.1% in the three months to February 2026.
- Services sector output is estimated to have grown by 0.1%, while the production sector is estimated to have contracted by 0.2%. Construction sector output grew by 1.5%.
- The low level sectors which made the largest positive contribution to overall GDP growth were Retail, Wholesale & Motor Trades and Health & Social Work, contributing around 0.1 percentage points respectively towards headline growth. The Administrative & Support Services sector made the largest negative contribution contributing around 0.1 percentage points.
Monthly GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.4% in April 2026, after 0.3% growth in March 2026 and 0.5% contraction in February 2026.
