Who we are

The Scottish Government is the data controller for the personal data you provide as part of your application to the Independent Advocacy Social Care Fund.

What personal data we collect

We may collect and process the following types of personal data:

  • contact details of individuals submitting the application
  • names and roles of project staff
  • information about your organisation’s governance and financial arrangements
  • any personal data included in project descriptions or monitoring and evaluation data

Purpose of processing

We collect and use this information to:

  • assess eligibility and suitability for funding
  • administer and manage the grant process
  • monitor and evaluate funded projects
  • fulfil our legal and regulatory obligations

Lawful basis for processing

Our lawful basis for processing your personal data is:

  • Article 6(1)(e) – performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority
  • in some cases, Article 6(1)(c) – compliance with a legal obligation

Where special category data is processed (e.g. diversity monitoring), the lawful basis is:

  • Article 9(2)(g) – substantial public interest, with appropriate safeguards

Who we share your data with

We may share your data with:

  • internal Scottish Government teams involved in grant assessment and monitoring
  • external assessors or evaluators working on our behalf
  • audit bodies or regulators where required by law

We will not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

How long we keep your data

We will retain your data for no longer than is necessary. Typically, this will be:

  • up to 6 years after the end of the funding period, in line with public sector audit requirements

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access your personal data
  • request correction of inaccurate data
  • request erasure of your data in certain circumstances
  • object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
