Introduction

This statistical publication presents the latest figures for new housebuilding and the Affordable Housing Supply Programme (AHSP) in Scotland. The commentary also reports data relating to the AHSP target as well as the all-tenure ambition to increase new building by 10% each year for three years.

The commentary in this publication has been shortened to the key points only to allow the team responsible time to improve the underlying processes used to compile the quarterly data. There will be a longer publication in the June quarterly release, where the full financial year is available. Whilst the commentary has been reduced all data is still available in the supporting Excel tables.

Timeseries for housebuilding data, along with local authority breakdowns, are contained in the supporting Excel tables.

An Accredited Official Statistics Publication for Scotland

These statistics are accredited official statistics. The Office for Statistics Regulation has independently reviewed and accredited these statistics as complying with the standards of trustworthiness, quality, and value in the Code of Practice for Statistics.

These statistics were accredited in June 2013, with a compliance check conducted in 2019.

Accredited official statistics are called National Statistics in the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007.

Scottish Government statistics are regulated by the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR). OSR sets the standards of trustworthiness, quality and value in the Code of Practice for Statistics that all producers of official statistics should adhere to.
