Global biodiversity framework: Edinburgh Process - information

Information on the Edinburgh Process for subnational governments, city and local authorities on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.


Reports

In order to inform the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, three separate written reports will be submitted into the CBD processes. These will inform the CBD Open Ended Working Group (OEWG) who are developing the framework, of the strong role for  sub-national governments throughout the framework. In addition they will inform discussions at SBSTTA-24, SBI-3 and OEWG-3 meetings to be held in 2021. These reports will become available here:

  • OEWG-3 – full report of the Edinburgh Process
  • SBSTTA-24 – Edinburgh Process input into goals, targets and monitoring elements of the framework
  • SBI-3 – Edinburgh Process input into implementation elements of the framework. This report has been submitted to the CBD under Agenda Item 11: Mainstreaming of biodiversity within and across sectors and other strategic actions to enhance implementation, and is meeting document CBD/SBI/3/19More information is available in documents CBD/SBI/3/INF/25 and CBD/SBI/3/INF/26.  These will be introduced at the informal SBI-3 session held 8-14 March, 2021.  A formal SBI-3 meeting date remains unconfirmed.
