Pivotal enterprise resilience fund (2020)

Could i please have details regarding the above mentioned fund, namely;
1 - What geographic areas where the successful companies based .
2 - What type of business and what industry were they in and how where they deemed important enough to need aid
3 - Were they small or large companies
4 - What criteria was used to establish eligibility
5 - How many applicants were unsuccessful
6 - What percentage of applicants were successful

Response

1 - On 6 August 2020 the Scottish Government published Pivotal Enterprise Resilience Fund grants offered by Local Authority, till that date, here - Coronavirus (COVID-19): hardship and resilience funds statistics - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)

On 26 August Scottish Enterprise published, on their website, a full list of awards, that includes the Local Authority area of each award, here - View the list of companies that received this grant support (Excel, 153Kb)
Section 25 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) exempts information from disclosure where the requester can reasonably obtain the information without making a request for it.

Successful applicants will be able to provide evidence of, or demonstrate impact in, one or more of the following areas:

  • Supporting Scotland’s productive capacity – through wage levels, employment, exports,
  • Research & Development and innovation
  • Local economic importance which would include areas such as, employee numbers relative to place, delivery of essential services, wider economic and community value, plus the socioeconomic importance of the business in remote and rural areas 
  • Leverage on wider business community by demonstrating the impacts of your business on supply chain at a local, regional and national level
  • Being a supplier or potential supplier to NHS or other COVID-19 vital services
  • Being a supplier to other essential businesses
  • Demonstrating a need to rapidly scale up or diversify due to COVID-19

3 and 4 - The eligibility criteria for the Pivotal Enterprise Resilience Fund included that businesses have up to 249 employees and have less than £43.689 million turnover or balance sheet total of £37.572 million. The Fund was designed to assist Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs).
