Fairer Futures Partnerships: islands communities impact assessment (ICIA)
Islands communities impact assessment (ICIA) for the Fairer Futures Partnership programme.
Step 4 – Assessment
Through this assessment there has not been any evidence found of potential negative impacts to these communities as a result of the FFP programme; instead, impacts on communities are likely to be positive overall. This is both through increased funding for island communities (either directly through the Shetland FFP or via Adopt and Adapt funding for non-FFP island authorities) and the sharing of learning through the FFP programme on how to deliver services differently in a place-based and person-centred way.
Given the highly localised nature of the FFP work, any distinct differences or challenges faced by Island Communities are expected be considered and accommodated as part of local design and delivery. Our FFP partners are local experts and are encouraged to take a place-based approach to delivery. We recognise that the characteristics of island communities can provide specific challenges which need to be considered, e.g. co-locating services can be difficult due to communities being spread across a wide geographical area. In addition, community voice is a key characteristic of the FFP approach, so we would expect engagement carried out locally to further highlight any particular unique island considerations. However, given this approach is dynamic in nature, we will keep this assessment under review as the partnerships progress.
