There is a trend for cooperation between Scotland and the US in a range of relevant areas, with a number of trade missions and agreements supporting the export of engineering services and advanced manufacturing to the US market. At a Federal level, The Technology Prosperity Deal agreed in September 2025 aims to strengthens cooperation across AI, quantum computing, advanced manufacturing, civil nuclear, and fusion technologies[12]. However, it should be noted that in December 2025 there has been uncertainty over the extent to which this will be fully implemented in the short term.
Various state level MoUs also signal and support collaboration across key advanced manufacturing clusters such as aerospace in Washington and innovative energy tech in Texas[13]. These established frameworks aim to remove trade barriers, forge R&D partnerships and improve access to procurement and supply chains.
