Renewable electricity capacity
Scotland’s capacity for electricity generation from renewable sources has increased substantially over the past 10 years and currently stands at 17.4 GW – a 12.9% increase compared to 15.4 GW at the end of 2023 (Figure 3).
The technologies with the largest capacity growth between 2023 and 2024 were fixed offshore wind (1.1 GW increase) and onshore wind (0.8 GW increase).
