Discretionary Housing Payments in Scotland: 1 April 2023 to 30 September 2023
This publication provides information on Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) in Scotland over the six-month period from 1 April 2023 to 30 September 2023.

The expenditure statistics in this publication are for the amounts spent, or committed to be spent, on DHP awards for the financial year 1 April 2023 to 30 September 2023. Committed spend occurs, for example, if a local authority decides to award funds for the whole of 2023-24, but this may be paid out in instalments throughout the year rather than in one lump sum.
Chart 1 and Table 3 show the value of DHPs in Scotland during the financial year 2023-24, with a comparison of the spend profile for 2022-23. During the first part of the year, actual or committed spending during 2023-24 was higher than in the previous year and continued to increase at a faster rate until August. In September, the spending profiles appeared to have started to converge.
