Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults: impact report - year 3 (2023-24)

This report reflects on information provided by projects funded through the Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults in Year 3. It appears from these returns that projects who received funding managed to meet the aims set out within their applications.

Methods

The Scottish Government requested that TSIs gather evidence on the impact of Year 3 projects. A standard set of questions was developed and issued to projects across the 32 TSIs.

The questions:

  • What did you expect to do with the funding and what did you actually do against your original plan?
  • How many activities were planned/undertaken?
  • How many participants benefitted?
  • Who were the main beneficiaries?
  • Achievements: any achievements to date that you are particularly proud of, or that demonstrate the difference made to individuals?
  • Challenges/changes: Any problems you encountered that slowed the progress/stopped the outcomes from happening or things that were changed.
  • Impact: Any impact the project had on people's mental health and wellbeing.

A total of 90 responses were received to these evaluation questions. Although this accounts for 6.29% of all Year 3 projects, the responses were drawn from three projects within each Third Sector Interface region, providing a balanced cross-section of funded activity and a robust indication of the Fund's impact across the country. These returns were thematically analysed by Scottish Government researchers.

Following these questions, TSIs were approached again in November 2025 for additional information they already held in relation to the impact of projects and the number of people reached. This additional data has been included in the overall findings.
