Safe havens: charter
Safe havens are secure facilities that provide a controlled environment for accessing and processing personal health and social care data. This Charter sets out the operational framework for Safe Havens in Scotland providing principles and standards to support the use of data to enable research and innovation.
Footnotes
1 Scottish Safe Havens and NHS England's Secure Data Environments (SDEs) both provide secure platforms for accessing health data, ensuring privacy through strict governance. While Safe Havens are well-established within NHS Scotland, SDEs are a newer initiative across NHS England, with similar goals of enabling research while protecting patient confidentiality.
