The Charges for Residues Surveillance Amendment (Scotland) Regulations 2026: equality impact assessment (EQIA)
The EQIA considers the potential impacts of the above Regulations, which updates fees in Scotland required to be paid in relation to surveillance of animals and animal products for residues of veterinary medicinal products and other substances.

Policy aims: to update the charges for the UK National Residues Control Programme (NRCP) in Scotland to maintain operations on a full cost recovery basis due to an increase in the cost of procured services (such as sampling, testing, consumable etc.) which are necessary to deliver the programme.
EQIA scope: the focus of this EQIA is the general population.
Key findings: the EQIA considered the public generally, including those with protected characteristics, and the impact was found to be neutral.
Recommendations: to update the legislation associated with the charges for residues surveillance programme to ensure food safety and continue the operation on a cost recovery basis.
