Annex B – Identifying waste landfilled that is not included in the ban on landfilling biodegradable municipal waste

The SEPA guidance also includes the following decision tree to help waste handlers identify whether individual waste streams are included in the ban or not.

An image of a decision tree to help determine whether waste can be sent to landfill disposal or not. The decision tree advises that if waste is either: classified using a code in Annex 1 or; municipal or similar in nature to household waste or; is not/no longer biodegradable then it can be sent to landfill. However, if the waste meets any of these criteria, it is included in the ban and cannot be sent for landfill disposal.
