Annex A – Wastes included in the ban on landfilling biodegradable municipal waste
SEPA has published guidance[13] to support waste handlers in complying with the ban on landfilling BMW.
The guidance notes that landfill operators will not be able to accept wastes that are from municipal sources and are biodegradable.
The EWC codes shown below are extracted from the guidance to act as an initial screen to determine if that material is considered BMW and therefore cannot be landfilled under the ban. It is not an exhaustive list but provides the main EWC codes.
