1 Building Warrant Applications

The average number of building warrants and amendments issued in Scotland each year is approximately 42,000. The number of building warrants and amendments issued in Scotland increased by 16% during 2021-22 (see Chart A).

2 Completion Certificates

The number of completion certificates accepted each year in Scotland is approximately 45,000. The number of completion certificates accepted has increased by 34% during 2021-22 (see Chart B).

3 Value of Works

The building standards services in Scotland verify construction projects with a value of works of approximately £7 billion annually. The value of works in Scotland increased by 22% during 2021-22 (see Chart C). Building warrant fees are based on value of works, so fee income levels also increased during 2021-22 by approximately 3% compared to average levels.
