Young People and the Future of Scotland: young person's guide to the findings
This short report aimed at young people summarises work the Scottish Government did with Demos Helsinki, the Scottish Youth Parliament and the UK Government Office for Science. It presents the ideas of a small group aged 14-19 who participated in a workshop to help shape Scotland’s future.
Why did we do this?
The Scottish Government wants to prepare Scotland for the future. To do this, we are studying what changes might happen in the next 10-20 years and what could happen as a result. We do this so we can make better plans for jobs, schools, health and the environment.
Young people in Scotland have the right to have their views and opinions heard by decision-makers. Young people’s voices can challenge old ways of thinking and bring creative solutions to big problems like climate change and inequality. Including young people in decision-making is also fair because they will live with these decisions for a long time.
