Welcome accommodation

Should a displaced person from Ukraine require welcome accommodation it is in the majority of cases allocated via the core welcome hub in Edinburgh. When in welcome accommodation, matching discussions will take place to secure an offer of longer term accommodation. Welcome accommodation ranges from hotels to M/S Ambition and M/S Victoria.

As reported by welcome accommodation teams across Scotland on 18 January, there were 2,138 hotel rooms and 1,228 ship cabins occupied by displaced people from Ukraine in welcome accommodation in Scotland. There were around 6,323 people in welcome accommodation; around 4,062 people occupying hotel rooms and 2,261 people on-board the passenger liners. In addition to already operational M/S Victoria in Leith, the M/S Ambassador Cruise liner in Glasgow became operational on 14 September. Please note displaced people can still embark M/S Ambition for contingency use or to join family already on board. This will affect the occupancy totals. Please note that the number of people occupying hotel rooms is an estimate which assumes an average of 1.9 people per hotel room. Please see methodology section for additional notes.

By 18 January, 378 guests had disembarked M/S Ambition since 17 September, and 747 guests had disembarked M/S Victoria since 26 July. Please note, figures for total disembarkations include both guests disembarking when matched to temporary or longer term accommodation and guests who have disembarked for other reasons.
