Matched accommodation

According to data reported by COSLA and the Scottish Government, since the beginning of the scheme, around 1,595 individuals had been matched with a host by the national matching service and arrived at their matched accommodation by 11 April 2023. Through the Scottish Government local authority survey collected between 25 January and 7 April 2023, local authorities reported that, since the beginning of the scheme, around 3,280 individuals had been matched with a host locally, and around 930 individuals had found an informal match by their own means after arriving in Scotland. Please note that the latter number may be an undercount due to lack of formal reporting on this type of match.

Combining the outcomes from the different types of matches available for displaced people from Ukraine sponsored by the Scottish Government, it can be assumed that, since the beginning of the scheme, around 5,805 individuals, have arrived at their matched accommodation in Scotland. A breakdown of completed matches by local authority can be found in the accompanying set of tables.

Additionally, cumulative figures reported by local authorities between 25 January and 7 April 2023 indicate that local authority teams are aware of at least 4,025 individuals (around 1,880 cases – e.g. families) arriving on visas sponsored by an individual sponsor that have arrived at their matched accommodation in Scotland since the beginning of the scheme.

Local authority teams reported that out of all the people that have been matched (arriving on any visa type: sponsored by the Scottish Government, Individuals or on Family Visa), since the beginning of the scheme, around 2,835 people (around 1,305 cases) had been placed directly into social or council housing across Scotland, as reported between 25 January and 7 April 2023.
