Testing Scotland's proposed domestic homicide and Suicide review model: phase one report and SG response

Summary of the findings from phase one of the testing of Scotland's proposed national Domestic Homicide and Suicide Review Model and Scottish Government response to the findings commissioned by the Scottish Government.

1. Acknowledgments

The Scottish Government would like to thank those who attended and participated in the ‘Testing Scotland’s Proposed Domestic Homicide and Suicide Review Model – Phase One’ workshop.

We would like to thank Nicki Norman and Frank Mullane, Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) who facilitated the day. We also want to thank those who attended from jurisdictions out with Scotland with expertise in domestic homicide and suicide reviews.

Together the collective experience, expertise and perspectives in the room helped to test the structure of the review model and provided a valuable contribution to the wider ongoing work to develop the detail of the review model.

Finally, we would like to pay tribute to Neil Moore, CEO of People Experiencing Trauma and Loss (PETAL) Support, who sadly passed away on Wednesday, 2 April 2025. Neil was an active and valued member of both the Model Development Subgroup and the Workforce and Training Group under the Taskforce structure, and his contributions to the testing workshop and the broader work are deeply appreciated. Neil brought dedication and insight to the development of Scotland’s Domestic Homicide and Suicide Review Model, and his presence will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of working with him.
