Footnotes

1. Although the last search date in the review by the Dominski review is 18 June 2020, the search strategy used in this study was from 1 January 2020 to ensure all relevant papers were collated, including those that may have been accepted in early 2020 but not published until after 18 June 2020, due to the timescales associated with academic publishing. An end date of 1 January 2024 was used to capture any pre-dated early release publications.

2. The annual mean Air Quality Objectives for the protection of public health in Scotland are 10 μg/m3 for PM2.5 and 40 μg/m3 for NO2 (https://www.scottishairquality.scot/air-quality/standards)
